Key Features (What “BT+WiFi+USB” means)
The model name sums up its strengths:
High Print Speed: Typically prints at 200mm/sec or more, making it ideal for fast-paced retail environments.
80mm Paper Width: The standard for most restaurant kitchen orders, retail receipts, and queue tickets.
Triple Connectivity:
Bluetooth (BT): For mobile printing directly from tablets, smartphones, or handheld POS devices. Great for waitstaff or mobile payments.
WiFi: Connects to your local network, allowing multiple terminals/computers (like a front desk and kitchen) to send prints to it wirelessly from anywhere on the network.
USB: The classic, reliable wired connection to a single computer or POS system. Usually provides both data and power.
Common Applications
Restaurants: Kitchen/bar printing for orders.
Retail Stores: Sales receipts, return slips, and end-of-day reports.
Hospitality: Invoice printing at front desks.
Ticketing: Queue tickets for banks, clinics, or government offices.
Mobile Businesses: Used with a Bluetooth-enabled device for pop-up shops or delivery services.
Setup & Usage Tips
1. Driver & Software:
First, identify your POS software. The SP-90A works with almost all systems (e.g., Square, Clover, Loyverse, Poster POS, custom software).
You usually need to install a printer driver on your computer. Download the latest drivers from Speedx’s official website or your vendor’s support page.
For Android/iOS apps, you often just need to pair via Bluetooth or enter the printer’s IP address (for WiFi) within the app’s settings.
2. Connectivity Setup:
USB: Plug and play. Install the driver, and the printer will appear as a COM port or standard printer.
WiFi:
Most models have a built-in web interface. Connect it temporarily via USB, find its IP address, and type that into a web browser to configure WiFi settings.
Alternatively, use the configuration sheet (print by holding the feed button while powering on) to see current network settings or put it in WiFi setup mode.
Bluetooth:
Enable Bluetooth on your phone/tablet.
Put the printer in pairing mode (often by holding the feed button or a specific Bluetooth button).
Find “SP-90A” in your device’s Bluetooth list and pair. The default PIN is often 1234 or 0000.
3. Paper Loading (Crucial!):
Open the lid.
The thermal paper roll must go with the printed side facing DOWN (towards the print head). This is the most common mistake.
Align the paper and close the lid firmly. Use the feed button to test.
4. Configuration & Commands:
You can customize settings like default paper size (80mm x diameter), print darkness, automatic cutter behavior (if equipped), and communication protocols (ESC/POS is standard).
Use the provided utility software or send direct ESC/POS commands to configure it.
Potential Considerations & Troubleshooting
Driver Compatibility: Ensure you have the correct driver for your operating system (Windows, Linux, Android, etc.).
WiFi Stability: If on WiFi, ensure the signal is strong. A static IP address for the printer is recommended to avoid connection drops.
Bluetooth Range: Typically effective within 10 meters (33 feet) in open space.
Power Supply: Use the provided 12V/2A-3A adapter. Under-powering can cause print errors.
Common Issue – Half Blank Receipts: This is almost always a driver issue. Reinstall the correct driver and ensure you’ve selected the proper printer model in your POS software settings.
Print Quality Fades: Check print head darkness settings in the configuration. If problem persists, the print head may be wearing out or the paper quality may be poor.
