Key Feature Breakdown: ANC vs. ENC
This is the most important part to understand:
1. ANC (Active Noise Cancellation)
What it does: Cancels noise for YOU.
How it works: Uses microphones on the outside of the earbuds to pick up ambient noise (like airplane engines, fan hum, traffic rumble). It then generates an opposite “anti-noise” sound wave to cancel out that external noise before it reaches your ear.
Benefit: Allows you to listen to music or podcasts at lower volumes by blocking out distracting background sounds. It creates a more immersive experience.
2. ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation)
What it does: Cancels noise for THE PERSON YOU’RE CALLING.
How it works: Uses microphones on the inside (or strategically on the stem) of the earbuds to focus on your voice. It then filters out background noises (like wind, chatter, keyboard clicks) from being transmitted during a call.
Benefit: Makes your voice sound crystal clear to the other person on the call, even if you are in a noisy environment.
In short:
ANC improves your listening experience.
ENC improves your calling experience.
